Example of Variation

There are three emphatic portions to this structure. Interestingly, the CENTER POINT does not appear to be emphatic.

1) The A and A′ emphasis identifies who the angel is: I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. This is cited in Matthew 22:32, Mark 12:26 and Luke 20:37.

2) The VARIATION in verse 5 is an unexpected turn. Moses simply was curious, but in the VARIATION he is told not to go near, for the place is holy ground.

3) The CONCLUDING SUMMARY reveals how Moses was afraid to even look at the Lord.
