In this SIMPLE ALTERNATION, verses 21-24 are an excerpt from a larger structure that began in verse 5:3, “When xxx had lived yyy years, he fathered zzz; aaa lived after he fathered zzz and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of xxx were bbb years and he died.” In verses 22-24, that pattern was abandoned and therefore the entire simple alternation is an emphatic variation.
1) The CONCLUDING SUMMARY in verse 24B seems out of place—it is irregular and unexpected—and is therefore emphatic. It is treated as a concluding summary because that verse summarizes what happened to Enoch.
