This CHIASM describes Melchizedek. The emphasis is:
1) The CENTER POINT indicates that Melchizedek was made like Jesus—like Jesus, he is the high priest forever.
2) The VARIATION in B, verse 2, is due to its much longer length and detail than B′. The added portion that appears in verse 2 is the statement that Melchizedek was the king of righteousness and the king of peace.
3) Verses 4 and 5 are an INTERRUPTION because they discuss the Levitical order of priests, not Melchizedek. The interruption foreshadows a discussion of the house of Levi that begins at verse 8.
