Emphasis

This CHIASM, which could have been combined with the one for verses 1 to 8, is a separate topic in that it clarifies Elijah′s role in restoring all things.

1) The FIRST/LAST elements (verses 10 to 13) help reinforce what Jesus stated earlier in Matthew 11:14, that John the Baptist was Elijah.

2) The CENTER POINT reminds us of Herod′s brutality, beheading John the Baptist as a man who spoke for righteousness. The fruit of his tree was good fruit.

3) The IMPERATIVE in verse 9B is an ironic way to say, tell others. The surprising irony makes it emphatic.
