This ALTERNATION COUPLET is the second of a four-part COMPOSITE structure that spans Romans 14:1-13. See how verses 5A and 5B do not offer enough detail; hence verses 6-8. The emphasis is:

1) The LIST SUBSTRUCTURE adds considerable length to the B element. Therefore the B element holds some emphasis over the A element.

2) The CONCLUDING SUMMARY puts all these convictions in their place. What is important is to live and die for the Lord.
